Inside

• Style: Simply dressed in designer seaside style, with wood floors, neutral décor and pale hues of soft furnishings. The layout is open-plan from the kitchen and dining room into the waterfront lounge
• Bedrooms: 3 bedrooms in the main house: 2 king-size doubles upstairs (one opening onto a sea-facing balcony and the other with quirky portholes looking out to sea) and a twin room downstairs. In addition, the king-size ‘Honeymoon Suite’ is in a separate boathouse.
• Bathrooms: The 2 upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with bath/shower and separate loo; the downstairs twin has an adjacent shower room and separate loo. The Honeymoon Suite has an open-plan bathroom with a shower and bath.
• For relaxation:Soak up some rays on a sun-lounger on the decking, relax on the stylish chaise longue and on cooler evenings light the wood-burning stove
• For recreation:Take a dip in the inviting outdoor pool, squish your toes in the sand and stroll along 16 miles of beach.

Outside

There’s plenty of space on the 1200m-plot with a large outdoor pool (can be heated) and raised decking that butts up against the sand dunes. As well as a barbecue, there are outdoor tables and chairs so you can enjoy dining and relaxing alfresco. The grounds are not enclosed, they simply continue down meet the beach.

Food and Wine

• DIY: In addition to a well-equipped kitchen adjoining a sea-view dining area, there is a BBQ for alfresco cooking.
• In-house cuisine: Caterers can be organised at the time of booking.
• Eating out: Perched right by the sea, as you’d expect there are some fabulous fish restaurants on the doorstep: Strandkombuis offers a seafood extravaganza right on the coast, and Beaches restaurant serves sumptuous seafood from tables overlooking 16 miles of sand. For international and local cuisine head to Kakjalki and the Droograk Deli is the perfect foodie haunt for breakfasts and lunches.

• On the map: Yzerfontein is 85km north of Cape Town
• By Car: From Cape Town, take the R27 north and come off at Yzerfontein. Follow signs for Pearl Bay, to Lutie Katz Rd
• By Air: The nearest airport is Cape Town, about an hour from the property

• Explore the tranquil seaside village of Yzerfontein and its pristine 16-mile beach that stretches all the way to Postberg Nature Reserve
• You can go whale watching almost all year round and Dassen Island, just off the coast, supports a colony of penguins.
• Visit the West Coast Fossil Park to discover fossils that date back 5 million year
• Enjoy mountain biking, bird watching, scenic drives and hiking, as well as water sports including sailing, surfing and angling.
• There are three game parks in the area, where you can see many species of buck as well as giraffes, ostriches and wildebeest.
